Vietnamese scientist elected to European Academy of Sciences
VOV.VN - The European Academy of Sciences (EURASC) has officially announced the election of Prof. Dr. Sci. Hoang Xuan Phu, senior research fellow at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, as a new member.

In a congratulatory letter, Prof. Rodrigo Martins, president of EURASC, emphasised that this election was the result of a rigorous evaluation process that recognises Prof. Phu’s outstanding scientific contributions and international reputation.
The Professor’s main research areas are optimisation, optimal control, numerical analysis, and scientific computing. He has assumed key positions such as the Asian representative in the Commission for Developing Countries of the International Mathematical Union (2011–2014); member of the editorial boards of six international mathematics journals; and Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Journal of Mathematics (2011–2022).
He has hosted seven international conferences on high-performance computing from 2000 - 2018, and 23 annual workshops on optimisation and scientific computing since 2003.
He was also member of other prestigious academies, such as Heidelberg Academy of Humanities and Sciences (Germany), Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Germany), the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).
