Vietnamese ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang received the executive board of Vietnamese Residents’ Association in Nongkhai in the northeastern province of Thailand, on June 19.

At the reception, the board informed the ambassador of the association’s activities in helping overseas Vietnamese in daily life, and preserving and popularizing Vietnam’s culture in the Vietnamese and Thai communities. Currently, Pathumthep Vithayakhan high school is introducing their students to the Vietnamese language.

Chairman of the Vietnam Residents’ Association in Nongkhai Ho Van Binh said overseas Vietnamese in Thailand are making great efforts in building their communities, engaging in charity activities, and helping Vietnamese nationals and Thai people in localities. They are also introducing the Vietnamese language at high schools in the province and developing tours between Vietnam and Thailand through Vientiane.

Ambassador Thang said that despite the impact of the world economic crisis, Vietnam has achieved high economic growth in the past years. He added that the Vietnamese Party and State consider overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the nation. He expressed wish the hope that overseas Vietnamese in Nongkhai and Thailand would always contribute to building the homeland while integrating well into their resident locality.
