Vietnamese national dies of COVID-19 in Cambodia

VOV.VN - The authorities of Prey Veng province in Cambodia announced on June 6 that a 69-year-old Vietnamese citizen who had previously tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus died after undergoing a week of treatment.

The female patient was initially hospitalised on May 30 after suffering from symptoms such as a shortness of breath, a fever, and a persistent cough for four consecutive days.

Upon arrival at hospital she was immediately tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with the test results coming back positive.

The woman had resided in Prey Veng city before eventually passing away on June 5 due to COVID-19.

June 6 alone saw Cambodia report 11 deaths linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with 631 new infections and 1,069 recoveries.

So far the neighbouring country has recorded 34,244 COVID-19 cases, including 6,827 patients who are currently under treatment and 263 deaths.

Approximately 2.73 million people out of a total population of 10 million have so far been vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Cambodia’s Health Ministry.
