Vietnamese in Thailand honoured

Nine Vietnamese individuals and families in Bangkok and Noong Khai province of Thailand have received the Vietnamese State’s orders and medals for their contributions to the country’s resistance wars in the past as well as in the current national development.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang presented the rewards to the recipients at a ceremony in Bangkok on April 22.

Addressing the function, Thang expressed his gratitude to Vietnamese in Thailand for their material and spiritual contributions to the national liberation.

He said he hopes that the community will continue upholding their revolutionary tradition and solidarity and looking towards the homeland, thus fostering the friendship between the two peoples.

The ambassador lauded fine developments in bilateral ties over the years, adding that the two countries will raise their relation to a strategic partnership this year.

Awardees said the honour is great encouragement for Vietnamese in Thailand and they will promote the national solidarity tradition, support each other in their lives and serve as a bridge for the Vietnam-Thailand friendship.

To date, more than 800 Vietnamese individuals and families in Thailand have been presented with the Vietnamese State’s resistance war orders and medals as well as certificates of merit of the Prime Minister and Foreign Ministry.

In 2007, the Vietnamese community in Thailand was honoured with the first-class Independence Order presented by the State President.
