The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy on May 15 granted certificates of merit to overseas Vietnamese who have made contributions to community development.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Dang Khanh Thoai spoke highly of the contributions made by the Vietnamese people in Italy and expressed hope that they will make more efforts for a developed and wealthier Vietnam.

Doctor Hoang Van Ban, one of the four outstanding overseas Vietnamese being granted the certificates, expressed his sentiment towards the State’s consideration for overseas Vietnamese, affirming that he would do his best for the development of the community in Italy.

The overseas Vietnamese community in Italy has, over the past time, conducted various activities in support of disadvantaged people in their homeland, including raising funds for victims of disasters. In addition, they sent young delegates to attend summer camps in the homeland and participated in a contest to tell stories about President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.
