Vietnamese e-visa policy promoted in Hong Kong

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Airlines branch in Hong Kong (China) has co-ordinated efforts with the Society of IATA Passenger Agents Ltd. (SIPA) to organise a seminar aimed at enhancing the promotion of Vietnamese destinations and the benefits of the electronic visa (e-visa) policy for tourists from Hong Kong (China).

The event featured the participation of representatives of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong (China) and Macau, as well as executives and senior managers of many travel firms in Hong Kong (China).

In his opening speech, Ngo Tri Hung, head of Vietnam Airlines branch in Hong Kong (China), said that Vietnam represents a very attractive destination among tourists from Hong Kong (China) due to its many beautiful landscapes, friendly people, rich culture, unique cuisine, and flight journey of just over an hour.

Participants at the seminar were updated on top Vietnamese destinations in 2024 as voted on by TripAdvisor, with sites such as Ha Long Bay, Sa Pa, and the ancient capital of Hue being listed.

Accordingly, Hong Kong (China) tourists will be able to admire the nation’s wonderful landscapes such as Ha Long Bay as it is only about three hours by car from Noi Bai International Airport.

Furthermore, visitors can also choose to travel from Hanoi to Sa Pa by car with a five-hour journey to explore Fansipan peak, a site known as "the roof of Indochina"; admiring the beautiful scenery of rice terraces; hunting clouds; and savouring highland specialties.

In addition to updating information on attractive Vietnamese destinations, participants were also introduced and gained a deeper insight into the nation’s e-visa policy.

Speaking at the seminar, Consul Nguyen Minh Tuan, representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong (China) and Macau, introduced the advantages and convenience of e-visa such as their simple procedures and saving time.

Foreigners can apply for an e-visa online without having to go directly to the Embassy or Consulate General in their home country to apply and the e-visa registration process only takes a few minutes to complete.

According to Tommy Tam, president of SIPA, Hong Kong (China) people love to travel to Vietnam. After it completely resumed activities after the pandemic, he believes that tourists from Hong Kong (China) will continue to travel to Vietnam which is one of their favourite destinations.

Tam said that, along with loosening and simplifying visa procedures, the number of tourists coming to the country is increasing. In addition, both places are very close to each other, with it being just a few flight hours to reach Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for tourists from this market. Indeed, Vietnam Airlines currently has 11 flights per week from Hong Kong (China) to these two cities.

He added his hopes that at the International Tourism Expo (ITE) in Hong Kong will be held in June, with Vietnamese travel companies directly introducing tourism products. to customers from this market.

Meanwhile, Billy Leung, sales director of Lotus Travel Company, said that after several years of travel disruption due to the pandemic, people from Hong Kong (China) have restored their habit of regularly traveling. He praised Vietnam as a very interesting destination, boasting both beautiful scenery and delicious cuisine.
