Vietnamese competitors secure three excellence medals at 48th WorldSkills
VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese competitors earned Medals for Excellence at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, which concluded in Shanghai, China, on September 27 following four days of competition.
The biennial global event gathered more than 1,400 participants from nearly 70 countries and territories, competing across 64 skill categories. Vietnam sent a 12-member squad to compete in 11 fields, including mechatronics, refrigeration, CAD mechanical engineering design, fashion technology, renewable energy, CNC turning, CNC milling, car painting, health and social care, electrical installations, and heavy vehicle technology.
According to the organizing committee, Medals for Excellence are awarded to contestants achieving 700 points or higher out of a maximum 800.
Vietnam’s three medalists are Do Van Duc from the Denso Vietnam Vocational Training Institute in CNC turning, Nguyen Ngoc Duoc from the same institute in CNC milling, and Ong Phu Quy from Khanh Hoa College of Technology and Energy in renewable energy.
Notably, Do Van Duc was selected as the outstanding representative to be honored at the closing ceremony of the 48th WorldSkills Competition.
Direct exposure to international vocational standards during the event provides valuable practical insights for Vietnam to evaluate and upgrade its domestic training and skills assessment frameworks.
The next WorldSkills competition is scheduled to take place in Japan in 2028.

The Ministry of Education and Training on September 15 afternoon held a hybrid send-off ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation participating in the 48th WorldSkills Competition in China, which is the largest edition ever held.
