Vietnamese community in Cambodia pays tribute to war martyrs
(VOV) - Representatives from the Vietnamese embassy, relevant agencies and Vietnamese community in Cambodia on July 27 offered incense and laid wreath at the Monument to Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers in Phnom Penh.
The event is part of activities to mark the 68th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
The delegation observed a minute of silence to express gratitude to war heroes, martyrs and volunteer soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during the war.
Their sacrifices contributed to the struggle for Cambodia’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also reflects the international spirit in order to foster time-honoured friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.
During the war, thousands of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts lost their lives while fulfilling international tasks in Cambodia. Governments of the two countries are making great efforts to find, excavate and repatriate remains of more than 4,500 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers still in Cambodia.
