The second Congress of the Vietnamese Association in Russia has taken place at the Vietnamese Embassy in Moscow on the theme “for an united, stable and developed community looking towards the fatherland”.

On addressing the congress on November 1, the acting chairman of the association, Do Xuan Hoang, summarised the association’s achievements since its first congress in 2004 in building up and developing the Vietnamese community in Russia in different aspects such as socio-cultural development, charity, humanitarian aid, and foreign relations.

To meet their target, the association will focus on seven issues for its second term of office (2009-2013) in which it will attach a lot of importance to changing the way business is conducted in the current climate, promote cooperation in economics, tourism and investment in the home country, strengthen friendly cooperation with the resident country. It will also respond to charitable campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy.

A newly elected Executive Board has 56 members and Ngo Chi Dung, President of KBG group, was appointed the association’s chairman.
