Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training, Nguyen Thien Nhan and France’s Minister of Higher Education and Research, Valerie Pecresse have discussed a project to build a University of Technology in Vietnam in association with 40 French universities.

The discussion took place during Mr. Nhan’s visit to France on October 5-6.

He also met with representatives from the French universities taking part in the project, including the University of Paris, the University of Toulouse and the University of Cachan, and asked them to transfer their experience and teaching skills to Vietnam’s universities.

As planned, France will send 30 professors to Vietnam to lecture.

Preparations for the construction of the University of Technology began with an estimated investment capital of US$100 million sourced from the Asian Development Bank.

The Ministry of Education and Training has a plan to build four other universities in cooperation with France and Germany.
