Vietnamese students have won two silver and two bronze medals at the 20th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) which was held in Egypt recently.

The silver medals belonged to the 12th grade student, Nguyen Ba Canh Son from the Le Quy Don gifted high school in central Da Nang city and the 11th grade student Nguyen Pham Khanh Nhan from a gifted high school under Ho Chi Minh City National University. Two bronze medals went to Vu Ngoc Quang and Nguyen Thanh Dat, 12th grade students from the Nguyen Hue gifted high school in the northern Ha Tay province.

The news of the Vietnamese team winning the same medals as the 19th IOI is really encouraging as Vietnam is one of few delegations with four members awarded high prizes.

At the contest, the organizing board granted 24 gold, 46 silver and 70 bronze medals to outstanding students. Of them, a Chinese student won the highest score of 558 points out of 600. The Egyptian delegation also snatched a bronze medal. The 21st IOI will be held in Bulgaria next year.
