The Ministry of Education and Training and the US Embassy in Hanoi on September 30 signed an agreement to co-operate in education.
Under the agreement, both parties will step up co-operation through a training programme between Vietnamese and US colleges and universities before establishing a Vietnam-US University in Vietnam.
The US will provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students to do a doctorate or a master’s at renowned US universities. From now until 2020, the US will work with their Vietnamese partners to train 2,500 lecturers with doctorate degrees and help Vietnam to upgrade its school facilities, and laboratory and library equipment.
The US will also help Vietnam to improve the quality of English teaching and build a tertiary evaluation system based on international standards.
