The 63rd Congress of the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA) is scheduled to be held in Hanoi from July 27 to August 3, 2007.

The information was revealed by Nguyen Van Loi, President of the Vietnam Esperanto Association (VEA), at a meeting held in Hanoi on December 10 to mark the 50th anniversary of the association.

The congress, entitled "Peace, Cooperation and Development", is expected to draw 400 youths from more than 40 countries across the world, he said.

High on the agenda of the congress will be tens of seminars relating to matters of common concern to delegates, as well as various activities aimed at promoting the friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese youth and their peers from countries worldwide.

"Vietnam is chosen to host the 63rd congress of the UEA thanks to the growth of the Esperanto movement in Vietnam, particularly among youngsters, which has been highly valued by the UEA," said Lai Thi Hai Ly, President of the Young Esperanto Vietnam (VEJO).

The event will offer Vietnamese youth a chance to introduce the country's image and people to international friends, and help boost world Esperanto movements, she added.
