The Global Women Summit 2008 will be held in Hanoi from June 5-7, drawing the participation of businesswomen, female specialists and female national leaders from all parts of the world.

The summit and the Businesswomen Forum were promoted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) at a seminar held in Hanoi on April 28.

VCCI Deputy Chairwoman Tran Thi Thuy, who is head of the summit organising board, said almost 1,000 delegates from over 100 countries, including global business giants, will participate in the event.

She said the summit, themed “Women and Asia -a momentum of global economy”, aims to set up and expand the global businesswomen network. It will also aim to build a database of the proportion of women in national leadership, company executive boards and industrial groups worldwide over the past decade.

The host country will hold a series of events within the framework of the summit including “Doing business with Vietnam”, a ministerial round-table conference on partners from public and private sectors. It is hoped such an event will create economic opportunities for women and provide a forum for business CEOs in the Asian-Pacific region.
