The Government and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will accelerate international cooperation in combating crime, said Deputy Minister of Public Security Le The Tiem at an international symposium in Hanoi on November 28.

The two-day symposium, held by the Police Academy, drew the participation of rectors from police colleges and academies in the Asia-Pacific and representatives of the International Police Association (IPA), the ASEAN Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

High on the agenda of the symposium are new methods and programmes for police officer training and prospects for training cooperation among the regional police schools and academies.

The participants also underlined the necessity to have closer cooperation in police officer training in the region.
