To take urgent measures to prevent a possible bird flu pandemic, the department asked localities to launch a monthly campaign for bird flu prevention from October 15 to November 15 under the direction of the Prime Minister, and to make logistical preparations for vaccination of duck flocks in December 2006.

From October 25 to November 1, 2006, the Ministry will send inter-ministry investigation teams to Hanoi, HCM City and Da Nang to inspect the development of the disease before APEC related meetings are scheduled to take place there.
