To date, 35 patients have died of COVID-19 and related illnesses.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son said on September 10, that the health sector is devising a plan to test hordes of foreigners when Vietnam is about to resume some international air routes.

According to the Deputy Minister, Vietnam will use antigen tests instead of antibody tests, and test kits are produced by domestic companies.

“The health sector has the capability in terms of personnel and test kits to carry out testing when Vietnam reopens its skies to international flights,” said Son.

Vietnam is scheduled to reopen 6 international routes as from September 15 to Taiwan (China), Guangzhou (China), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Cambodia, and Laos. The number of visitors in need of isolation is estimated at nearly 5,000 per week in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
