On the same day, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Quang Ninh province launched the campaign "Let's protect aquatic species for our future" and other provinces and cities across the country held many activities in response to the World Wetland Day.

WWD has been organized each year to mark the signing of the Ramsar wetland Convention in 1971.
