The Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia demanded relevant Russian agencies quickly investigate to find and severely punish the murderers of a 20 year-old Vietnamese student in Saint Petersburg.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Nganh made the request when he met a representative from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 19 regarding the St Petersburg Court Jury's decision October 17 to acquit all those accused of killing Vu Anh Tuan, a freshman at St. Petersburg State Technological University, in October 2004.

The Vietnamese Ambassador expressed his disappointment at the St. Petersburg court jury's ruling and regretted that the culprits in the case had still not been punished two years after Tuan's death.

The Vietnamese Association in Russia, the Association of Vietnamese Fellow Countrymen in St. Petersburg and the Association of Vietnamese Students in St. Petersburg have also raised their voice demanding quick investigation of the case and duly punishment for the murderers.

President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Organisation Yevgheni Glazunov expressed his disagreement with the court jury's verdict, saying he would ask legal agencies in St. Petersburg in particular and in Russia in general to conduct further investigations to find and punish the murderers.
