Vietnam reports a COVID death in four months

VOV.VN - Vietnam on April 22 recorded a COVID-19 related death after experiencing a single coronavirus fatality for nearly four months, the Ministry of Health said in its coronavirus update on April 22.

The patient had died in Hanoi, the ministry said, without providing further information.

Meanwhile, as many as 2,337 fresh cases were detected across the country on April 22, a fall of 137 cases compared to the previous day.

Currently, there are 129 severe patients receiving treatment in medical facilities, of whom 24 require invasive mechanical ventilation.

Vietnam has so far logged 11,543,059 infections, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories worldwide.

Of the total, 10,616,725 sufferers have recovered from the disease, including 532 cases announced on April 22.

As many as 43,187 patients have died of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and underlying illnesses.

More than 266 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to people of all age groups.
