Vietnam repatriates 300 more citizens from Canada, RoK due to COVID-19
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on August 2-3 conducted a special flight bringing home 300 Vietnamese citizens stranded in Canada and the Republic of Korea due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passengers on board the repatriation flight came from various parts of Canada and the Republic of Korea. They were minors under 18, elderly people, pregnant women, sick people, students with expired visas, workers with expired labour contracts, holidaymakers, and others in specially difficult circumstances.
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Vancouver (Canada) and the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK sent staff to airports to assist the citizens with necessary procedures before they boarded the plane. Vietnam Airlines strictly implemented medical measures to prevent the possible spread of the novel coronavirus throughout the journey.
As soon as the aircraft landed at Can Tho International Airport in southern Vietnam, all crew members and passengers underwent medical check-ups and were transferred to quarantine facilities in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
Under Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s instructions, domestic authorities and Vietnamese representative offices abroad are devising plans to bring home more Vietnamese nationals based on their needs and the nation’s current quarantine capacity.
