Vietnam records more than 8,400 cases on April 26

VOV.VN - Vietnam confirmed 8,431 coronavirus cases on April 26, an increase of 1,014 cases compared to the previous day, the Ministry of Health said in its coronavirus update.

All the new infections were documented in Vietnam, with 6,341 cases diagnosed in the community, said the Ministry of Health.

None of the localities recorded 1,000 cases each nationwide. Hanoi capital topped 56 localities that reported cases on April 26, registering 937 infections.

Ho Chi Minh City, the largest and busiest locality in Vietnam, also only detected 64 cases.

Localities that saw the number of infections decrease most compared to the previous day were Lam Dong (-124), Hai Duong (-68), and Thai Nguyen (-63).

Meanwhile, localities that saw the number of infections rise most compared to the previous day were Phu Tho (+209), Bac Giang (+195) and Dak Lak (+108).

On average 10,212 cases were recorded in Vietnam daily in the past seven days.

Notably, Hanoi capital registered to add 40,000 cases to the national coronavirus database after reviewing infections in its localities.

The same day, the Ministry of Health announced an additional 23,465 patients recovering from the disease, and eight more deaths in six localities.

As of 6pm on April 26, Vietnam has confirmed more than 10.6 million infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories worldwide.

Of the total, more than 9.1 million patients have recovered, and 43,029 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses.

As many as 213 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
