VOV.VN - Localities in Vietnam have logged as many as 179,011 dengue fever cases, including 70 deaths, since the beginning of an outbreak earlier this year, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The MoH also revealed that the past week alone saw Vietnam confirm roughly 8,900 infections, a decline of 18% compared to the previous week.
The capital of Hanoi has so far this year recorded a total of 1,342 cases, a three-fold increase compared to the same period from last year, although no deaths have been reported.
Meanwhile, about 48,756 cases have been uncovered across Ho Chi Minh City, including 947 severe cases. In comparison to the same period last year, the number of dengue fever infections has seen a six-fold increase.
The health sector is encouraging people to remain vigilant and to continuously inspect and clean water containers in order to prevent larvae and potential mosquito bites.
