Vietnam considers training, science and technology to be top priorities in cooperative relations with Russia, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Mr Nhan made the statement while receiving the Permanent Deputy Minister of Russia’s Ministry of Education and Sciences, Yury Sentyurin, in Hanoi on June 22.
Deputy PM Nhan expressed his hope that the Russian Ministry of Education and Sciences would join hands with Vietnam to speed up the establishment of the international-standard Le Quy Don University.
He spoke highly of Russia’s recent achievements in academic and applied sciences, saying they have left deep impressions on Vietnamese scientists.
The Russian Deputy Minister applauded Vietnam’s plan to set up the Le Quy Don University, stressing that Russia’s major technology universities are willing to participate in the project by sending experts to Vietnam.
Mr Sentyurin said his ministry will help Vietnam train more officials and increase long-term scholarships for Vietnamese students. The ministry will also support the building of an electronic library system to connect universities in Vietnam, he added.
