Vietnam National Day marked in US
VOV.VN - A ceremony to mark Vietnam’s 71st National Day was held by the Vietnam Embassy in Washington DC on September 12.

Addressing the event, Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh said September 2, 1945 is an important milestone in Vietnam’s history, marking the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Over the last seven decades, the Vietnamese people have overcome many difficulties and challenges to consolidate its independence and build a wealthy and strong nation, Mr Vinh said.

The Ambassador spoke highly of the sound development of Vietnam-the US relations with the establishment of the comprehensive partnership in 2013 and a two-way trade value of more than US$50 billion last year.
He hoped that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will be soon approved and the succeeding US President will attend APEC 2017 in Hanoi.

Mr Russel congratulated Vietnam on its National Day and affirmed that Vietnam-US relations witnessed impressive progresses with an significant landmark in 2016 evidenced by the historic visit to Vietnam by President Barack Obama.
The US wants to further deepen the comprehensive partnership with Vietnam and jointly handle issues of mutual concern for peace and prosperity in the region, he noted.
Congresswoman Bordallo in turn said she hopes the bilateral relations will grow and flourish, especially in trade, tourism, security and defence.
