Vietnam launches National Data Centre to drive digital transformation
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with leaders of relevant ministries and agencies, pressed the button to inaugurate National Data Centre No. 1 in Hanoi on August 18 in an effort to accelerate digital transformation.

The National Data Centre serves as a core platform providing data-related services, supporting policy planning, fostering development, and building a digital government, digital society, and digital economy, while ensuring national defence and security.
The official operation of the centre marks an important step, turning data into a truly valuable resource, a new production asset, a core element, and the ‘lifeblood’ of today’s digital economy. Once officially operational, data from the National Integrated Database at the National Data Centre will be utilized to reduce paperwork, simplify administrative procedures, and support governance and decision-making at all levels.
During the ceremony, the National Data Centre showcased digital platforms and core services aimed at building a "national digital ecosystem." Notably, the National Data Sharing and Coordination Platform functions as the “air traffic control centre of data,” coordinating all data integration and sharing activities, aligned with the national digital data architecture and the national data governance framework, ensuring interoperability across the entire political system.
The implementation of the national public service portal at the National Data Centre creates a single “one-stop shop,” centralising online public services and leveraging data from the National Integrated Database to minimise paperwork, making procedures more convenient, faster, and cost-effective for citizens and businesses.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies for completing the project on schedule, saving costs, and successfully organising the inauguration.
“When we first discussed this project in 2023, it seemed ambitious and uncertain. Yet, we were confident and committed to starting construction that same year. Today, through self-reliance, confidence, and determination, we have successfully completed it, demonstrating the will, intelligence, and ambition of Vietnam. Importantly, this achievement benefits the people by saving time and supporting socio-economic development,” said the PM.
The Prime Minister also stressed that science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation are an inevitable trend, an objective requirement, and a cause for the entire Party, military, and people, contributing to the realisation of a strong, prosperous nation with a happy and prosperous population.
According to the Prime Minister, the inauguration of National Data Centre No. 1 is only the first step, and Vietnam should aim to develop a flexible and efficient network connecting other data centre systems and integrate with global data networks, starting with the ASEAN region.
“Playing a pioneering and creative role, the National Data Centre must be the ‘heart of the national digital transformation,’ serving a key function in formulating socio-economic development policies, ensuring national defence and security, and enhancing the country’s competitiveness,” the Prime Minister emphasised.
