Experts from the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) have joined their counterparts from other ASEAN countries in a drill called "ACID 2006" to deal with cyberspace incidents.

The ASEAN CERT Incident Drill 2006 was held in the spirit of the fifth ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN 5) to enhance the regional cooperation in network security and examine the ASEAN CERTs' capacity of detecting and dealing with hackers, viruses, and spam mail, etc.

This was the first international drill involving VNCERT which was set up to cope with computer network breakdowns in the country and to cooperate with network security research organisations like BKIS, VDC and FPT to quickly deal with computer network failures.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
