Vietnamese experts and their Japanese colleagues gathered in Hanoi on December 13 to discuss matters relating to the clean development mechanism (CDM) with the aim of promoting the two countries' cooperation in applying clean energy.
At the workshop, delegates reviewed Vietnam's adoption of the climate change convention and its implementation of a number of policies relating to the CDM. They also discussed the possibility of developing CDM projects in energy-related fields.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Minister of Construction Tong Van Nga highlighted the conference as a venue for businesses of Vietnam and Japan to exchange and seek cooperation opportunities in research and application of clean energy to socio-economic activities.
CDM is one of the three so-called mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol designed to assist developing countries in maintaining sustainable development.
The workshop was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Construction.
