Vietnam, Iceland boost clean energy cooperation

(VOV) - On November 5, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with their Iceland counterparts organized a seminar in Hanoi addressing future cooperation in clean energy.

At the seminar, Iceland President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson said geo-power energy was a key to his nation’s industrial development and success in dealing with environmental pollution and climate change.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai in turn said Vietnam pledged to develop clean and green energy and sought renewable and clean energy to replace more traditional sources.

With Iceland’s advanced technology, the two countries will soon boost cooperation in exploring and applying geo-power energy in Vietnam, Hai said.

In addition, participants at the seminar discussed issues, such as sustainable energy, development of geothermal energy in Asia and Vietnam and technical consultancy in green energy.
