The 2009 International Conference on Information Technology and Communications opened in the central city of Da Nang on July 14.

The event, organized by the Vietnam & Francophone Informatics Research (RIVF), the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and Da Nang University of Technology, aims to provide an opportunity for local and foreign scientists, universities and businesses to cooperate with their overseas counterparts.

Out of the sixty-eight scientific reports presented at the event, eight will be conducted by scientists and research students from Da Nang University of Technology.

The conference has drawn the participation of leading IT and telecommunications professors and researchers from 23 countries, including the US, Japan, France, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Canada and Italy.

Among those are Prof. Paul Bourgine from France’s University of Technology, Prof. Lawrence Wong from the Singapore National University and Prof. Gary G. Yen from the US-based Oklahoma University.

The conference, which is the largest ever of its kind to be held in the central region, will last until July 17.
