Vietnam will help Laos formulate a master development plan for its post and telecommunication sector as part of a memorandum of understanding signed in Vientiane on September 29.
Vietnam will also help Laos equip a control station to improve its management of radio-frequencies and make necessary preparations for the 25th SEA Games which are scheduled to take place in Laos next year.

Telecommunications network management and security will be an area of cooperation both countries agreed in documents signed the same day during Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung’s visit to Laos .

Earlier on September 28, Deputy Minister Hung and his entourage were received by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavat.

The Lao leader hailed the two telecommunication sectors’ cooperation plans and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communication (VMIC)’s projects designed for the Lao post and telecommunication sector as practical assistance to Laos’s national development and regional and global integration.

He expressed his hope that the VMIC will boost its cooperation with the Lao communications sector in the immediate future.

During their four-day visit to Laos, which began on September 27, Vietnamese information and communication officials held working sessions with officials from the Lao ministries of planning, investment and finance to discuss ways to deploy two Vietnamese-funded projects for the Lao post and telecommunication sector.
