Vietnam hands over Lao military art troupe’s headquarters

The Vietnam-funded headquarters of the Lao military art troupe was handed over to the Lao military in Vientiane on April 10.

The construction is billed as a gift from the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence to the Lao People’s Army on the occasion of 70th anniversary of the Lao army and 50th birthday of its art troupe.

The five-storey building was constructed on an area of over 3,000 square metres at a total investment of nearly US$6 million, US$5.5 million of which was provided by Vietnam and the remainder came from Laos’ corresponding fund.

Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, deputy head of the General Department of Politics under the Lao People’s Army Sonethong Phomlavong thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence for its support, affirming that the construction is a vivid illustration for the solidarity between the two ministries.

He stressed that it will make significant contributions to nurturing the special friendship between the two Parties, States and armies.
