Vietnam finishes fourth at World Memory Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam has placed fourth overall at the 34th World Memory Championships (WMC) 2025, winning one gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals, said organisers.
Mongolia topped the overall medal table, followed by Australia in second place and China third.
Vietnam’s sole gold medal came from Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh, who also contributed multiple silver and bronze medals across individual disciplines. Her performance highlighted Vietnam’s continued progress in memory sports on the international stage.
Phuong Trinh, 25, from Lam Dong province, previously made headlines by breaking five world records and outperforming 780 competitors worldwide to win gold at the World Memory Championship held in India in November 2023. She has also finished fourth at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Memory Championship and placed in the top 10 at the 2019 World Memory Championship.
The 34th World Memory Championships 2025 was held in Ho Chi Minh City from December 12 to 14. At the closing ceremony, the hosting flag was officially handed over to Vietnam, which is set to host the competition again in 2026.
Founded in 1991 by Tony Buzan and Raymond Keene, the World Memory Championships is the world’s oldest and most prestigious memory-sports tournament. It aims to push the boundaries of human cognition and promote the global development of mind sports.
The 2025 edition is co-organised by the Vietnam Memory Organisation, the World Records Union (WorldKings) and Tam Tri Luc Group, under the supervision of The Guild of Mind Sports Arbiters (GOMSA).
