The Vietnam Female Intellectuals Association was officially established on March 8 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

The association aims to strengthen solidarity among and build on the creativity of Vietnamese women intellectuals for gender equality and national construction, said the draft documents of the congress that set up the organization.

The association will be managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Addressing the congress, Deputy PM Nhan highlighted the important role of female intellectuals in the fields of politics, economics, culture and social affairs, as well as in Party and State agencies.

“We believe that the Association will create a favourable environment for our country’s female intellectuals,” Mr Nhan said.

The congress elected a 35-member executive committee for the Association during its first term from 2011-2016.
