Czech Republic, Vietnam step up cooperation in education, research and innovation

VOV.VN - As part of efforts to strengthen their bilateral partnership, Vietnam and the Czech Republic have made notable progress in education and scientific research through a roundtable held in Prague on the afternoon of June 6.

The event was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc and Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam. It brought together representatives from universities, research institutes and enterprises of both countries, along with the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic (SPCR).

At the event, Lukas Martin, Director of the Czech Department for International Cooperation, emphasized his country’s commitment to supporting Vietnamese students. He proposed increasing the number of scholarships for Vietnamese nationals, calling it a strategic investment in future bilateral cooperation.

One of the key outcomes of the roundtable was a proposal to establish a Vietnam-Czech Centre for Educational and Research Cooperation, laying the groundwork for sustainable academic collaboration between the two countries.

Earlier the same day, a dialogue on promoting strategic cooperation in higher education and scientific research took place at the headquarters of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic. The discussion underscored the role of the Vietnamese intellectual community in the Czech Republic as a vital bridge between Vietnam and Europe.

The preservation of Vietnamese language and culture within the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic was also a focus of discussion. Participants proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training support the development of Vietnamese-language teaching programs tailored to the European context.

The event concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Vietnamese universities and the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, while reaffirming both sides’ commitment to deepening an extensive and lasting educational partnership.
