Over 400 delegates representing Vietnamese and Cambodian people from all walk of lives gathered in Ho Chi Minh City on October 2 for a friendship and cooperation meeting.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vu Mao, Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly Committee for External Relations and Head of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association highlighted the important role of the meeting which will play in enhancing the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Min Khin, Vice President and Secretary General of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland expressed his sympathy with the Vietnamese people over the losses in life and property caused by Typhoon Xangsane.

The meeting received messages of greetings from Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hunsen. The two PMs spoke highly of the meeting and wished it a success.

The friendship meeting will last through October 6.
