More than 100 representatives from non-governmental organisations (NGO), ministries and industries attended a meeting in Hanoi yesterday.

During the meeting, which was co-organised by the Committee for foreign NGO Affairs and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, calls were made on the international community and NGOs to support Vietnam’s development.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, Vu Xuan Hong, briefed participants on the country’s socio-economic progress in the first six months of the year. He also informed them about the proposed draft laws approved at the 5th session of the National Assembly, as well as details on individuals and organisations who allegedly are attempting to overthrow the State.

The participants also discussed on personal income tax and registration procedures for foreign NGO workers to access work permits.
