Vietnam attends “Open Day” event in Germany

The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany participated in the “Open Day” in Berlin on August 28 to introduce cooperation achievements with Germany to international friends.

This is the fourth consecutive time that Vietnam has engaged in the event held by Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.

The Vietnamese Embassy displayed pictures highlighting collaboration with Germany in recent years and entertained foreign friends with folk music.

Chargé d'Affaires of the embassy Nguyen Viet Cuong said Vietnam’s presence at the event celebrates five years of the bilateral strategic partnership between Germany and Vietnam and their wide-ranging cooperation.

Germany is one of the biggest official development assistance suppliers for Vietnam. Since 1990, Germany has pledged 1.8 billion EUR (US$2.01 billion) in ODA for the Southeast Asian nation.

It has helped Vietnam gain sustainable economic development and increase national competitiveness in industry.

The two sides have also collaborated in vocational training, environmental protection and efficient use of energy and renewable energy development.

The Open Day in Berlin allowed participants to study cooperation development projects between Germany and 62 partner countries across the world, from Africa, Asia to Latin America.

This year’s event focused on sustainable development goals approved by the UN in its Agenda 2030.
