Vietnam attends Int’l Ecotourism Society conference in Turkey

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Tran Quang Tuyen attended the 16th International Ecotourism Society (TIES) conference which recently took place in Tokat city of Turkey.

The event witnessed the participation of the Governor of Tokat Ozan Balci, Mayor of Tokat city Eyup Eroglu, John Bruno, executive director of the TIES, representatives of various travel companies, along with several Ambassadors of foreign countries.

The conference analysed the role and importance of ecotourism, and proposed measures aimed at maintaining and developing the model in the current situation, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic having a serious impact on all aspects of life.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Tuyen gave a brief introduction to Vietnamese tourism over recent years, expressing the country’s determination to meet development goals relating to sustainable tourism and green tourism.

He went on to affirm the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to sustainable development towards achieving green growth, along with harmony between tourism development and greater environmental protection.

The Ambassador also reviewed the country’s COVID-19 prevention measures and introduced its possibility of implementing the “Vaccine Passport", a policy which could be applied to international travelers visiting the country’s major tourist destinations, such as Phu Quoc island.

The conference also saw film footage screened to introduce Vietnam’s eco-tourism destinations, landscapes, culture, cuisines, and other tourism services.
