Vietnam Airlines to put on 12 repatriation flights for Vietnamese citizens in US

VOV.VN - Competent agencies in the United States have granted licenses to national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines to conduct 12 repatriation flights this year in order to bring home Vietnamese citizens currently in the US.

This comes after the US’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) granted permission to Vietnam Airlines on June 8 to conduct flights to the US, making the airline the only Vietnamese carrier to receive the license.

The first flight is scheduled to depart on June 22 and will run between Hanoi and Washington D.C, with the flight set to return to Vietnam on June 24.

Vietnam Airlines will make use of modern aircrafts including Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 on direct routes between Vietnam and the US.

The national flag carrier will also implement necessary epidemiological measures during each flight as a means of preventing the possible spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Last year saw Vietnam Airlines run more than 20 flights between the two countries to repatriate Vietnamese citizens, bring in foreign experts, and transport goods to the country.
