The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has decided to cut ticket prices under a trade promotion programme to celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).

The lowest price for a return ticket between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be reduced to VND1.6 million (roughly US$100), a 50 percent discount on the condition of early booking of at least 10 days before departure. The special prices will be offered to passengers travelling from Hanoi to HCM City from February 8-15, 2007 and vice versa from February 19-28.

Return and one-way fares for the Da Nang-HCM City route will be reduced to VND1 million and VND500,000 respectively, a 37.5 percent discount, on the same condition.

Discounts of 10 to 35 percent are also applied to fares on domestic flights between Hanoi and Nha Trang, Da Nang and Hue, as well as between HCM City and Hai Phong, Vinh and Hue during the holiday season.

Vietnam Airlines plans to add more than 700 flights from February 1-March 3 to meet the demand of passengers on the occasion.
