Vietnam Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Azerbaijan

VOV.VN - A Vietnam Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Baku Heydar Aliyev airport in Azerbaijan on October 6 as a German passenger got sick and needed an emergency service.

The aircraft was forced to make the landing after having travelled for four hours and 35 minutes from Frankfurt (Germany) to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

A German passenger, 18, got sick and his health did not improve after assistance from a volunteer doctor a volunteer nurse on board the aircraft, said a Vietnam Airlines representative.

The crew decided to land at Baku Heydar Aliyev airport and contacted the ground service to get immediate support.

The sick passenger was then brought to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The airport also sent a person to support the passenger at the hospital. The passenger’s health was notified to his family in Germany.

The aircraft departed from Baku Heydar Aliyev at 03:38 on October 7 (Vietnam time) and arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 11:45, nearly 4 hours later than planned.

This is not the first time Vietnam Airlines has decided to change its flight operation plan due to the health of passengers. Its flights were forced to make emergency landings in Taiwan (China) and New Delhi in 2019 for the same purpose.
