Vietnam Airlines and Air France have signed a code sharing contract that will allow passengers to have six more flights a week from Vietnam to Paris.

According to Vietnam Airlines, the additional flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris with transit via Bangkok, Thailand, will start operation from July 3.

Air France will use Airbus A340-300 aircraft for the flights, of which three will depart from Hanoi every Monday, Thursday and Saturday and the remaining three from Ho Chi Minh City every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The airline also plans to resume direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Paris, with three flights a week, using Boeing 747-400ER aircraft.

With the newly-signed contract, there will be six flights from Ho Chi Minh City and five from Hanoi to Paris every week by November this year.

Air France is one of the largest airlines in the world and a founder of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance. Vietnam Airlines’ joining SkyTeam this June will allow for closer cooperation between the two airlines.
