VGCL’s founding anniversary marked in Ho Chi Minh City
A grand ceremony in celebration of the 85th founding anniversary of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) was organised in Ho Chi Minh City on July 26.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai and VGCL President Dang Ngoc Tung were present at the celebration, among others.
At the ceremony, Tung praised the VGCL municipal chapter for its practical activities supporting the national industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.
He urged the municipal trade union to uphold its vanguard role in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members in particular and labourers in general.
Meanwhile, Hai asked the organisation to make the best use of successful experience and have new initiatives to help workers improve skills.
He called for the organisation’s greater efforts to expand its reach to all enterprises so as to better take care of the life of workers there.
The same day, a photo exhibition depicting the formation and development of the VGCL was held in Lam Son park.
