The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) delegation visit aims to learn about the results of the Vietnam-US cooperation in resolving issues of US servicemen missing in action (MIA) during the American war in Vietnam.

A high-ranking delegation of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) is due to a pay a working visit to Vietnam from March 24-27.

The delegation includes VFW Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief George Joseph Lisicki and VFW Security and External Relations Director in charge of Hawaii, Thailand and Vietnam Michael Howard Wysong.


The delegation will conduct a fact-finding tour of Phuoc Son district in central Quang Nam province, which is excavating the remains of US military personnel missing in action.


During the visit, the delegation is expected to have working sessions with some Vietnamese agencies and organisations including the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) and the US Embassy in Hanoi.


VFW is a big organisation with around 2.4 million members and has considerable influence in the US. The VFW leadership consists of war veterans took part in the American war in Vietnam. Since 1994, VFW has annually sent a delegation to Vietnam and launched diverse activities aimed at supporting and boosting the development of the Vietnam-US relations, helping promote mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries’ people and war veterans as well.
