The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) has announced the VEF Visiting Scholar Programme 2007-2008 for Vietnamese nationals who already hold a doctorate in the field of science, technology, engineering, or math at the leading US academic institutions.

Scholars will undertake a programme of up to one year in length, which may include formal courses, workshops, seminars, laboratory or field research, or other types of professional development activities. Upon returning to Vietnam, scholars must use the knowledge and skills acquired in the US to train others.

VEF’s Senior Programme Officer, Dr Lynne McNamara, said the programme will offer opportunities for Vietnamese scientists to improve their professional knowledge and research work.

Since 2003, through the VEF Fellowship Programme, VEF has selected and placed nearly 200 Vietnamese nationals in graduate degree programmes at leading US universities. VEF is also authorized to establish an international fellowship programme for post-graduate level studies in the US.
