VBS urged to make more contributions to national development

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) should encourage Buddhist  monks, nuns and followers nationwide nationwide to actively join movements, humanitarian and charitable activities initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.

VFF Vice President and General Secretary Tran Thanh Man made the suggestion on January 19 when receiving Vice Standing Chairman of the VBS's Executive Council, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu during his visit to wish the VFF a happy Tet (Lunar New Year).

At the reception, Man wished the VBS and Buddhist followers a happy new year, expressing his hope that the VBS, together with the VFF, brings a warm and happy Tet to the poor across the country.

The VFF official reviewed the formation and development of the VBS over the last 35 years, and highlighted its efforts to effectively implement emulation movements.

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu said he hopes the VFF will implement effectively campaigns and movements that it launched, thus strengthening the great national unity.

In recent times, the VBS actively has participated in a wide range of activities relating to environmental protection, poverty reduction, help for the poor and ethnic groups as well as support for victims of natural disasters and floods in the central and Central Highlands regions, he said.

The Most Venerable affirmed the VBS and Buddhist monks, nuns and followers will actively join movements launched by the VFF, contributing to the country’s development.
