VATM to inaugurate north-south Sky Highway
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is due to open the north-south sky highway subject to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
According to a VAMT representative, the new airway will help control air traffic at different speeds, shorten flight time on the same journey and reduce fuel consumption.
At present, Vietnam’s fly zone is located at the centre of the corridor connecting key economic regions in Asia with the highest air density and growth rate in the world (17%). More than 2,000 flights operates in Vietnam’s airspace per day and the figure is expected to reach 730,000 this year.
As many as 700 flights run on the North-South air route each day, accounting for 35% of Vietnam’s total airway networks.
