Diverse activities have been launched in response to Youth Month in March, such as building charitable houses, providing free healthcare services and organising vocational training courses for young people.

Since the beginning of March 2010, about 77,000 young people in Phu Tho province have collected more than 15 tonnes of rubbish, repaired 18km of rural roads, dredged tens of km of canals and rivers, and planted over 55,000 trees. They have actively taken part in disseminating information on environmental protection, traffic safety and the fight against social evils.

In Hoa Binh province, young people planted 9ha of forest, built 1km of rural road and presented gifts to poor students and social policy beneficiaries. They also repaired charitable houses, provided free healthcare services and organised vocational training courses for poor people.

The Quang Binh provincial Youth Union has decided to grant preferential loans worth a total of VND55 billion in 2010 to help young people start business and production. The province’s vocational training and job generation centres organised courses for 70,000 Youth Union members and created jobs for 6,500 young workers, including those living in remote areas.

On the occasion, young people in Binh Thuan province organised a job bazaar, attracting more than 1,000 Youth Union members taking part. The event was a good opportunity for youths to meet and exchange information with businesspeople and seek jobs. More than 100 young people were recruited at the fair.
