Van Don Airport welcomes return of repatriation flights after closure
VOV.VN - Van Don International Airport received two repatriation flights on March 11 returning over 350 Vietnamese citizens back to the country from Japan.
This marks the first flights to land at the airport since its closure last month due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The first arrival occurred at 19:00 p.m. on March 11 when VietJet Air’s Airbus A321 brought 193 passengers home from Japan. Two hours later, a further 160 Vietnamese citizens arrived home safe and sound after taking another repatriation flight from Japan.
The majority of passengers onboard the flights were made up of students who have already completed their courses but have difficulties finding accommodation, along with other citizens facing challenges.
VietJet Air carried out a range of strict security, safety, and hygiene measures both before and throughout the journey to protect the health of citizens and prevent the possible spread of COVID-19.
Once the aircraft landed at the airport, all members of the flight crew and passengers underwent medical check-ups before being immediately transferred to quarantine facilities in line with regulations relating to COVID-19 prevention and control.
